Five Ways to Boost Your Resume This Summer
Summer break is the ideal opportunity to relax, reflect on the past semester, and spend time with friends and family. It’s also a great time to gain experience to add onto your resume. Here are five ways you can boost your resume so you can stand out among other candidates:
Volunteer! There are endless opportunities to make a difference in your community. It’s best to pick one continuous project at an organization instead of volunteering at multiple places. Be sure to pick a project that will transfer to the skills that you will use in college and your career path.
Work at a summer camp. Not only will you be having fun, but you will be earning a paycheck and strengthening your leadership and management skills.
Take up a summer job. Working a summer job will help you gain connections and build your work ethic. Choose a job that sparks your interest and allows you to learn valuable skills that are relevant to your career path. For example, if you’re interested in being a teacher, you could look into becoming an after-school tutor.
Take summer classes. Ask your guidance counselor if there are any summer classes available so you can get college credits before you even reach campus.
Start a business. Whether you’re starting a clothing line or moving service, becoming a teenager entrepreneur can be quite simple. This will show future employers that you take initiative, have a strong work ethic, and that you are enthusiastic about the things you love.
Enjoy your summer break!
