How to Prepare Your High School Graduate for College During The Summer
The summer before college can be very exciting for your high school graduate. Here are five ways to prepare your high school graduate for the next stage of their life:
Go to orientation. The absolute best way for your teenager to receive the information they need to succeed is to actually visit the school before fall. Additionally, they will be able to register for classes and beat the dreaded waitlist.
Get them connected online. If your teenager has already been assigned a roommate, they can initiate contact by adding them on Facebook or sending an email. It’ll be great for them to get acquainted and set dorm ground rules.
Dorm room shopping. Take advantage of the back-to college-sales and get the right furnishings so that their dorm will feel just like home.
Schedule a visit to the doctor. While colleges offer health services, they vary in quality and often require students to join a waitlist. Be sure they can get a check up and prescriptions refilled before classes start.
Help them organize their finances. Everybody knows that college is expensive, but you can take matters into your own hands by helping your teenager create a budget for textbooks, clothes, food, and other necessities.
