We’re going virtual at the start of the year
The health and well-being of our students and staff is our number one priority. The increasing COVID-19 infection rates of the past few weeks make it clear the pandemic is not currently under control.
Therefore, we are announcing that we will follow the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) and start the new year online only through Labor Day. Virtual instruction will still begin on Monday, August 10 starting with grade-level orientations and distribution of daily learning schedules.
All academic standards and expectations will remain in effect. As referenced in prior communications, instruction will be delivered synchronously and asynchronously based on grade/department and instructor. Attendance is still mandatory, and assignment deadlines and academic integrity will be maintained and enforced.
Our hybrid instructional model, which allows for some in-person learning, will tentatively begin on Tuesday, September 8. However, this timeline is contingent upon improvement in public health conditions, guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, Louisiana Department of Education, and Louisiana Department of Health, and future reopening considerations of EBRPSS.
Though we will not be returning in-person on our first day, we are still extremely excited to begin the work of teaching and learning. Important information regarding food services, technology distribution, internet access and more is forthcoming.
